Unlimited Simultaneous Connections
This is Surfshark's trump card. While NordVPN limits you to 6 devices and ExpressVPN to 8, Surfshark has no device limit at all. Phone, laptop, tablet, smart TV, router, your partner's devices — all on one $1.99/month subscription.
For families or anyone with multiple devices, this alone justifies the choice. I had 11 devices connected simultaneously during testing with no noticeable speed degradation.
How Fast Is Surfshark?
On a 100 Mbps base connection from Mexico City, Surfshark with WireGuard averaged 88 Mbps download — a 12% speed loss. That's slightly behind NordVPN's 92 Mbps but perfectly fine for 4K streaming, video calls, and large downloads.
The gap widens on distant servers: US→Europe dropped to 62 Mbps vs NordVPN's 72 Mbps. For local and regional connections, Surfshark holds its own. For a full speed comparison, see NordVPN vs Surfshark.
CleanWeb & Privacy
CleanWeb is Surfshark's built-in ad/tracker/malware blocker. In my testing, it blocked 87% of trackers — slightly behind NordVPN's Threat Protection (94%) but still effective. The difference: CleanWeb only works when the VPN is connected.
Surfshark has been audited by Deloitte (no-logs policy) and Cure53 (infrastructure). Based in the Netherlands — inside the EU but with a verified no-logs policy. Their RAM-only servers automatically wipe all data on reboot.
